Museum of Inequality Website Final Draft

Dec. 16, 2019 Max Points: 250
Description:

Today (11/14/19) we created an outline for your website in class. (See me for more detailed instructions).
After creating your website (done today in class) you need at minimum the following in order to receive a passing grade for this exhibition project.

Requirements:
*In total you need to read and summarize at least three articles (two for the home page and one for the solutions page), and then summarize a mix of six additional artifacts (video clips, images linked to articles- what I mean here is when evaluating the significance of an image find an article to cite explaining its significance).
*You must have at a minimum three web pages (Home - provides background/6 artifacts, The SET High Times Editorial - attach a copy of The Great Gatsby Curve Editorial, Solutions - Two artifacts that showcase existing solutions in place by local, state, or federal gov'ts and/or private organizations).
*Attach a copy of your website final draft by linking the URL for your Google Site.

Great Gatsby Curve Editorial Project

Dec. 01, 2019 Max Points: 200
Description:

For your exhibition project you will create a virtual museum using Google Sites (separate post). On page 2 of your virtual museum (The Problem) add the Great Gatsby Curve Editorial Project. Please see attachments for more information. Thanks!

Requirements: Must be 750-850 words in length, have a catchy title, two engaging images, Times New Roman, and cite a minimum of two sources in APA format.

The editorial is due this Wednesday, December 4th, and it will explain the Great Gatsby Curve and the role inequality has in creating low economic mobility across generations. You will also choose an inequality factor such as healthcare, education, injustice, etc. and explain the position of the Editorial Board on that issue (meaning your position). (Criticism of the government's (local, state, or federal) response to the issue...).

*For example...explain Great Gatsby Curve and then showcase how the rising cost of college is contributing to this issue.

In essence, you will be criticizing the response to the inequality problem here in America and choosing a specific issue within inequality which contributes to the Great Gatsby Curve statistic.

Here’s the general format for creating a reference for a video found on YouTube and other video-posting websites:
If both the real name of the person who posted the video and the screen name are known:

Author, A. A. [Screen name]. (year, month day). Title of video [Video file]. Retrieved from http://xxxxxxxxx
If only the screen name of the person who posted the video is known:

Screen name. (year, month day). Title of video [Video file]. Retrieved from http://xxxxxxxxx The in-text citations include the author name outside of brackets (whichever that may be) and the date.

Nov. 20, 2019

I am extending the deadline for the Great Gatsby Curve Editorial to Sunday, 11/24/19 at Midnight for those students who need extra time. If you have and your family have vacation plans this weekend, you should aim for this Friday, 11/22/19 at Midnight.

Also, I attached below a copy of a graphic organizer to help you make sure you include all of the necessary elements of an editorial discussed in class. (Hard copies were handed out in class today as well).

Nov. 05, 2019

In my absence...

Please complete the Newsela I assigned on the American Dream. Students who earn a score of 4 on their Newsela today (quiz and written response) will get 25 points extra credit. Ms. S will also give me a list of students who were on their best behavior today. If you are disrespectful to Ms. S or anyone else covering the class today you will earn a score of 0 for participation this week.
