Announcements

Dec. 14, 2019

I hope you all are having a fabulous weekend. It was so much fun yesterday making butter with all of you. I wanted to share the recipe with you to share with your families. I am also including the nutrition facts for homemade butter.

Homemade Mason Jar Butter

Materials needed:
Pint size mason jar
Mesh strainer
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1/4 tsp of salt (optional)

Directions:

1. Wash and dry mason jar completely with hot water and allow to cool.
2. Pour in 1 cup heavy cream
3. Close lid tightly and begin to shake jar vigorously. (Heavy cream will first become whipped cream before becoming butter. Stop the process here if you are wanting whip cream)
Add salt at this time if you want salted butter.
4. Continue to shake jar until butter forms and buttermilk separates from the butter.
5. Pour contents out of the jar into a mesh strainer. Put in a container and chill for later use.
